Warning Changing His Game is a stand-alone novel. This book is for mature readers ages 18 and up. It contains sex, sex, and more sex with a porn star. It briefly touches on M/F/M and M/F/F.
Adult Films. XXX Movies. Porn.
These are the kind of movies I've never planned to watch. It was a taboo topic where I grew up. As a kid I had only heard of it in passing. In middle school my parents would talk about my creepy uncle Frank and how he should look for a job instead of watching "those movies" all day. In High School boys thought it was funny to ask my friends and me to star in the amateur adult films they were making. In college most of my guy friends watched them, but I never had. When I moved to California that changed.
After surprising my fiancé at home and catching him screwing another woman, I hopped in my car and started driving. I was running away from my old life and I needed a change. I remembered my friend Tawny inviting me to visit her in Los Angeles, so that's where I went.
I didn’t find Tawny when I got there, but I did find her gorgeous roommate, Jared. Our friendship started out rough, but he gave me a place to stay and helped me get back on my feet. He became my best friend. My best friend who millions of women happened to lust over.
Jared plays by a different set of rules, where anything goes. His lifestyle is unlike anything I’ve ever witnessed before and it scares me. When you live your life on the edge, eventually you'll fall over. I didn't want to see that happen to him.
At night he’s just Jared, my Jared, and I’ll deny it to anyone who asks, but I’m completely in love with him. During the day he’s Brandon Boner, and the world is in love with him.
Oh yeah, did I mention he’s a porn star?

I am trying to understand the really high stars this one got. I did like the premise of falling in love with someone unlovable - and by unlovable I mean I don't think I could fall in love with a porn star who had thousands of sex partners no matter how hot he was. This story moved pretty fast - Jared seemed to do a 180 faster than I could blink. Yes, Jared and Autumn had chemistry - but that was the best part of this book. Autumn's inner dialogue and a lot of her behavior with Jared was very teenage drama like. Jared, while pretty hot was kind of a Dr. Jekyll Mr. Hyde - until he wasn't. He at least seemed way more mature than she did.
****SPOILERISH****
The fact that the families were so accepting was not realistic, so in the form of fiction, I would expect some angst to come from her parents - but nope - smooth sailing. His family was totally accepting also, even though it was referenced that he was brought up in a "very Christian family" - uh, for the sake of fiction and drama could we have gotten at least some opposition there??
Also, Autumn watched him more than once have sex with other women and she was able to not let this bother her at all really - just a sentence or two about how it bothered her. Ugh, really? Somebody have a crying tantrum on the floor, hit someone or throw something please!

Changing His Game The Reynolds Brothers Book 1 edition by Justine Elvira Eileen Proksch Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I would have rated it higher but the Christian messages turned me off and colored my viewpoint for the book. It began to feel like the hooker with a heart of gold story, if the hooker was a hot guy.
I don't typically write reviews but I felt the need to warn anyone choosing to read this. I'm not sure how but this is a romance novel in the bubble gum and glitter vein. If the final line isn't "they live happily ever after for the rest of their days" it's only because someone over looked it. If you're looking for something dark that really evokes what it means to be in the adult film industry, live in Los Angeles and experience the pain of infidelity, you might want to steer clear. This isn't for you. Even the sex in this has a "little princess" sort of vibe.
On the other hand if you're looking for something fanciful that is full of sweetness and light that makes it seem as if the choices people make are simply happenstance, have at it. It's wildly unrealistic in just about every way. Really crazy fanciful fluffy stuff. Be sure to brush your teeth after because the sweet overload will rot them.
It was nothing like what I expected considering the subject matter. If you're looking for something a bit more gritty that really digs into LA sub-culture, though not adult films, have a read of anything by CD Reiss.
I had to sleep on this review. When I think about the book the next day, I have to say that I liked it and I did. Was it the best novel? No. But it did hold my attention. I read some of the other reviews so right up front the author tells you the contents of the book. If you don't like the subject matter...don't read it, it's a pretty simple premise. I don't enjoy first person novels as much as third person but I didn't really have a problem with the way it was written. I can only imagine it's difficult not to write I, I, I. The H/h do go back and forth a great deal, but isn't that what character's do? If we had perfect characters there wouldn't be any substance to what we read.
And seriously? You can't believe in God if you're a porn star or work in that type of industry? There is one reference in the entire book and if you do believe in God, it's a personal matter. No where did the author say this was a Christian novel.
Is the h young? Yes, does she act young? YES. She's young and has been with the same boy/man for 8 years until she moves to California.
Does the H have issues? Yes, what characters don't.
So we have sex, yes. We have language, yes. We have love and friendship and a past. And we have a HEA. Seems pretty simple to me. I liked it and I'll be ordering the next in the series as well.
Wow! The story was definitely not what I imagined it would be. Yes, I read the words Porn Star but Jared is so much more than a porn star.
How do I begin? Autumn is a recent college graduate, been in an 8 yr relationship, and walks in on her fiancé having sex with another girl in their small town. What does she do? Flees with embarrassment. Where can she go? After a quick decision she heads to California to visit her friend Tawney. Three days later she arrives at a really nice house in LA but as she enters the house a party is going on and Tawney is not around.
The only person that is in the house the next morning is Jared, the Porn star, the owner of the house and he is delicious. Autumn is not blind and her body is going haywire over this guy but as she gets to know him they are really good friends. Best friends in some cases. Jared likes Autumn because she is genuine and Autumn likes Jared because he is caring and generous.
A few things later and maybe they can be more than friends but Autumn is dead set against him performing as an actor if they were to be a couple. As they learn more about one another can they really be a couple or are they destined to be great friends?
I absolutely loved this book and swallowed it in a short period of time. I could not put this book down and needed to know what happens next!
If you liked 50 shades you will love this minus the BDSM....but with a lot of hot sex talk! After all Jared is in the porn business.
